Philodendron Selloum

Philodendron Selloum or Philodendron Bipinnatifidum is a bush native to subtropical areas of South America where grows with shadow and humidity.

The plant needs most of all shadow. It can grow inside used as plant to purify the air of houses and offices but even  outside where climate is mild: Philodendron can not resist to frost (minimum temperature -2°C) as well as to direct sunlight.

It is a bush can reach some meter of height  but after many years and climbing on the nearest tree.

Philodendron selloum has not special needs for irrigation or soils but it needs a constant and continuous fertilizer, being a very vigorous plant. Nonetheless the plant can grow in the same pot for many year , in the same environment.

Philodendron selloum produce new vegetation during the end of Spring and beginning of Summer. It can even produce a big white flower but we have to wait many year , when plant reaches maturity.
